As the animated GIF is increasingly recognized as an art form, more venues are calling for submissions. I have been involved with both open calls as well as curated collections (i.e. The Savannah GIF Festival, Fifteen Folds, The Tate Museum). It is exciting to partner with existing institutions as they work to make pre-existing art more accessible to the public. Through this access, a culture of re-mix and a trend to make art less “precious” begins to develop resulting in unique recreations and reinterpretations.
