Rimi ‘Kookaburra’ Morita posted a cropped sign assignment a couple of days ago giving a unique interpretation of Cogdog’s Assignment. But more importantly Rimi’s post was the first post (tagged correctly) to appear in that assignment’s stream.
So in the spirit of doing a ds106 visual or design assignment not ever done before I’m choosing Cogdog’s sadly neglected, yet awesome “Cropped Signs.” The assignment is inspired by Blackout Newspaper Poetry – tell a story through redaction. I love this idea because it empowers you to sort through the BS of a story and tell an audience what you think the “real message” is.
So here’s my interpretation of this assignment and for Cogdog this under appreciated ds106 assignment post goes to you!

These are genius, I love the mashup of assignments you got going on here between cropped signs and blackout poetry. The second one is straight out of Dali!
Just wait, I’m going to post portraits with my pet as a ds106 visual assignment.
Thanks for picking this up so creatively- i think your approach to deletion a la the black out newspaper is more interesting then my original idea of just cropping.
Subtract and make some art damnit
What I wanna know is: Why did the ear cross the road?
LOL Ears crossing
Observe the ear in its native habitat as it attempts to cross this newly constructed road. Notice it is not a New York ear as there are is no blue tooth attachment connected to its one orifice. also there is no ornamental jewelry that can often times be found attached to the lower lobe serving some yet unknown decorative purpose that may or may not facilitate the mating process.
