In honor of the two readings for this week’s assignment, I decided to give the desk in my office a little makeover. It’s a lovely 300 lbs. piece of public sector Feng shui that wasn’t quite right, so I made a small adjustment.
Students that are still getting their blogs together really need to get a move-on as well as fill out the form for this semester’s section of ds106. Also, make sure you sign up on the ds106 site. Jim Groom, the ds106 site admin is away for a couple days, so the syndication of your posts to ds106 may be a little delayed. In the meantime, Tweet your posts with the #ds106 hashtag, that way you’ll still reach the community.
For the this week, work on the following assignments:
1. Straighten out your blog, twitter, flickr, and youtube accounts. This week’s broadcast from Prof. Oliver will discuss how you can gather all these digital tools together in support of your journey to the center of the internet.
2. Watch Gardner Campbell’s essay, “No Digital Facelifts: Thinking the Unthinkable About Open Educational Experiences,” and read his article “A Personal Cyberinfrastructure,” as well. In a blog post, respond to these texts and how you feel about his perspective on education and why “A Domain of Your Own.”
3. Begin your dailyshoot assignments today and continue them for fourteen days (you’re welcome to never stop!) I made a quick screen cast tutorial on how to get started with dailyshoot.

4. Look for this week’s broadcast by following the #ds106 hashtag, he again hopes to broadcast on Wednesday at around 4PM. He plans to showcase reports of various students’ journeys as well as start his own. He also apologizes for not getting the first week broadcast up, coming soon (all my fault, and I don’t stop hearing about it.)
5. Also get your animated GIF ideas going. You can follow Jim’s tutorial here and get one up right away, or be ready with an idea and a clip for next Monday. And here’s my video tutorial as well.

for dailyshoot can we use pictures from google or tumblr or do we have to take the pictures ourselves
Lincie, the idea is to definitely take photos yourself. The struggle is greater to find something you feel happy with. You are welcome to edit images though on a computer or using free apps like GIMP or if you have an iPhone instagr.am.
Thank You, for two of the assignment I didnt use my photos but now I know to take my own pictures
Is this the “official” list of assignments, or is that elsewhere? I’m confused about the schedule for the weekly broadcasts. Do we just have to search the twitter hashtag for #ds106 and hope we find when the broadcast is? Sorry if I’m missing something obvious.
Sorry for the confusion Cheryl. I finally put links into the syllabus wiki on ds106 and will be beefing that up today. The wiki is embedded here on my site as well.
First: Awesome clip! Second: where can we find archives of these shows if we missed the live radio show?
Just posted the videos on the blog.
I feel like lost I saw some commercials on my site. Please help…..
Jean your site looks setup correctly. Get some posts going from the assignments.
I like the makeover video, the sound effects is great and the way you searched through the numbers until you found the ones that you were looking for.
It was fun to do and improved the look of my office too!
