I love that Jim Groom pulled out the 8-bit game GIF assignment with the animate 2600. His 8-bit noir is sheer genius finding the connection between these minimalist games and the filmmaking that likely inspired them.
The inspiration for this moment in C64’s Winter Games is a bit less subtle.

That’s awesome, makes me want to animate C64’s Conan the Barbarian flipping around. I love how you extracted the figure from the game. How did you do that?
You crop and resize an animated GIF in Photoshop, probably GIMP as well. I made a tutorial for this in the ds106 explodes chicken post.
Just when I think I’ve got a handle on this stuff, you guys go an turn it up a notch. I like the whole mixed media presentation; is it art imitating life, or life imitating art? Maybe we’re all just one last reboot away from the end of the world.
I thought you had somehow isolated just the moving image. I have an idea now 🙂
